HTML, CSS, & PHP
During the summer of 2013, I interned at creative agency SpecialGuest, working with creative director Aaron Duffy in establishing the agency's visual identity as well as designing and developing its website. Founded by Duffy in partnership with the creators of 1stAveMachine, SpecialGuest is a creative agency that works directly with clients that want to be part of the creative process, from concept to creation.
With a creative process defined by "hybrid thinking + hyper making", the agency needed a visual identity that conveyed its creative capabilities while embodying its eccentric culture. The logo was developed through modifying the typeface ClarendonLT, conveying ideas of hand-craftmanship and a feeling of warmth through the typeface's comforting timelessness. To give the identity a modern punch, a striking multicolored palette was used to accentuate the agency's multidisciplinary focus.
The old logo was described to be uninspired by the founders of the agency. Furthermore, there were several issues with legibility across platforms due to the logo's positive/negative shape relationships. The new identity was inspired by the quirky, craft-focused earlier work of Duffy.
In addition to identity design, the agency needed a website to showcase its new projects and clients. With the work as the primary focus, I built a responsive website in HTML, CSS, and PHP that fit within the new visual identity. Working site can be found here.
