Sensasians is Wash U's premier Asian interest A Cappella group. Founded in 2009, they sing in English and various Asian languages. Known as the singing pandas on campus, they specialize in bilingual mashups and more. Aside from being the group's president (as Music Director and Group Co-ordinator), I wanted to develop the The Sensasians' visual identity to embody the group's cultural identity, musical style, and overall vibe. I created a custom calligraphic letter-face, logo and a set of design guidelines for collateral. I also created the group's responsive website.
The rekord is a music listening and sharing service that specializes in allowing users to share music across all media platforms (Youtube, Soundcloud, etc.) with each other. Along with its online services, the start-up also hosts various events across St. Louis, featuring distinguished up-and-coming artists. I wanted to create a visual identity that captures the core idea of the service - to share music seamlessly and continuously.
House of York is a family style restaurant. With a menu that changes every week, House of York brings flavors from around the world to create a cohesive prix fixe feast that's meant to be shared and talked about. Juxtaposing a coat-of-arms aesthetic with modern design elements, I created a versatile mark that could be used in various collateral.
Fortnight is a Yale student-run kitchen studio. "This is our guerrilla culinary operation HQ. We spend hours in the darkness, throwing food against the walls, pureeing soup with bare fingers, and redefining kitchen physics." I created an identity that iconizes its name while embodying the modernity of the molecular gastronomy techniques the restaurant specializes in.
"We do what we can only call Drunk Asian. Comfort food served to share. Rolling Indie synthrock. Loud customers pushing plates around. One bite at a time." I wanted to visualize the internet-popularized onomatopoeic word, "nom", and infused in it an modern Asian aesthetic. I worked with geometric shapes, a distinctive bite mark as a brand element, and a palette in homage to traditional japanese street cuisine.
